Triangle shaped, Ammonite measuring 26x59x10mm set in sterling silver, caged, bezel and prongs setting. Bail is made with sterling silver wire and will accommodate a thick cord necklace. Suture lines are visible in this Ammonite and it is beautiful, especially with light behind it. Silver has been oxidized and polished. Pendant height including bail is 2.5” (60mm) and width is 1 1/8” (29mm). In variations, please select the length of cord necklace you would like. (I have 16, 18, 20, & 24” cord necklaces available).
Ammonite the Fossil
Now extinct, the ammonite mollusc was a shelled cephalopod. The extinction of ammonites coincided with the extinction of dinosaurs. Ammonites inhabited the world’s oceans and now appear as fossils in marine rocks. Because of their rapid evolution and wide distribution, ammonite fossils provide a useful tool for indexing and dating rocks. It is said that the original discus used by the ancient Greeks in their Olympics was in fact a fossilized ammonite. In India, ammonite fossils are identified with the god Vishnu and are used in various ceremonies. They are mostly collected in Nepal, from the bed of the River Gandaki where it cuts through Jurassic sediments. These fossils are known as “shaligram shila”. The word ammonite is derived from Ammon, an Egyptian god who took the form of a ram. Ammonites are similar in appearance to a ram’s horn.
Ammonite can be distinguished their shape which looks like a coil with a wide mouth. The chambered part of the ammonite shell is called a phragmocone. It contains a series of progressively larger chambers, called camerae that are divided by thin walls called septa. Only the last and largest chamber, the body chamber, was occupied by the living animal at any given moment. As it grew, it added newer and larger chambers to the open end of the coil.

Custom and personalized orders
I am happy to take custom and personalized orders, so please send me a convo if you are interested in a special order. Once a decision is made to proceed with a custom order, I will need to be paid 50% of the total purchase price before I make an item for you. Special orders will take 7 days for me to complete. In addition, I cannot accept the return of a custom made item or any item that has been altered or customized especially for you. I will absolutely not accept any return at 30 days regardless of why you want to return it. I want you to be happy with your purchase and will do the best I can to satisfy your needs, but I must be notified as soon as you receive your order in the mail.
Shipping
Your order will be shipped first class via USPS. In most cases your order will ship the same day or within 24 hours, with the exception of weekends and holidays. When returning an item, Buyer is responsible for shipping costs; this includes domestic and international orders. Buyer must return an item in the same packaging it was sent in, and within 7 days of receiving it. The item must be in brand new condition. Once I receive the returned item, you will receive a refund of the purchase price minus shipping. For packages shipped internationally, I can't refund the purchase price of items lost in the mail, but I will do everything I can to try to track down packages and get them to you.
Returns that will not be accepted

4. I will not accept a return after you have had it for 7 days. You need to let me know immediately that you want to return an item and send it back in the packaging you received it in. If this condition is not met, you will not receive a refund.
